The Altadena Community Preservation Fund (ACPF) was created to help safeguard generational wealth for the diverse community that calls Altadena home. The Eaton fire destroyed or damaged roughly 9,400 homes and businesses in Altadena. For many of these families experiencing loss, their house represented more than just a home – it was an important foothold into generational prosperity.
ACPF provides direct cash assistance to Altadena homeowners, small businesses and local organizations. These bridge grants can be used to address immediate and mid-term needs, including temporary housing, independent adjusters, legal fees, and administrative costs.
The Eaton Fire had a disproportionate impact on the multiethnic working class and historically Black communities in Altadena, and this fund’s goal is to ensure that Altadena’s inclusive community and homeownership remain intact for future generations.
This direct aid approach is crucial for preventing displacement, protecting against economic exploitation, simplifying rebuilding, and promoting an equitable recovery in an often-overlooked area.
